So glad you’re here! It’s been 10 years since I embarked on my professional journey and it’s been QUITE the decade! I’ll give you a quick synopsis….
Prior to becoming a coach, I worked for almost 9 years in the corporate world. I started off as a Marketing Coordinator at TINY e-commerce company. From there, I learned the importance of professional networking and made a number of career pivots ALL via my network. I NEVER applied for a job online. I went from digital advertising sales, to working for a large online publisher, to working in health care and finally to starting my own business via coaching. All the while I was climbing the corporate ladder from Coordinator, to Account Manager, to Account Executive, to Business Development Manager to owning my own business. My career journey has taught me so much and continues to teach me every day. I learned effective negotiation tactics and grew my salary by more than 437%. My years in sales and having had the opportunity to interview with a number of companies taught me how to pitch and present myself confidently both in person and on paper via my resume and career collateral.
I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of success in my millennial career, but the truth is I also struggled a lot. There were times I felt completely disconnected from what I was doing and the work I was performing and asked myself — was this going to be the rest of my life?? I felt deep imposter syndrome, a lack of confidence in myself and questioned my ability to succeed.
I enrolled in an intensive personal development seminar, figuring what did I have to lose? THAT became my turning point. I realized I didn’t deserve just “getting by” in my career and most importantly, I learned that I could CHOOSE something different. Through a lot of work and personal exploration into my values, areas of engagement and zone of genius, I discovered coaching.
The combination of investing in myself via personal development AND discovering a career I could be passionate about helped me combat my imposter syndrome and really nail my career mindset. I honestly felt like a different person. Coaching ignited something inside of me – a desire to work with and help others so I enrolled to become a Certified Professional Coach, began my practice and haven’t looked back.
I realized that coaching was MY thing and my goal as a Career Coach is to help others find THEIR thing and then learn the skills and tools to succeed professionally. That’s where The Career Upgrade (TCU) comes in. TCU encompasses the 10 years of professional experience I’ve gained on the corporate side. It also takes into account what I've learned from clients while building my business and hearing where they struggled the most when looking for a career they could actually be excited about. All of this has been combined with the skills and trainings I’ve learned as a certified professional coach to bring YOU the tools to become the professional, boss version of yourself.
